Taxonomy
Rhynchonella ranina was named by Suess (1860).

It was synonymized objectively with Cuneirhynchia oxynoti by Ager (1962); it was recombined as Tetrarhynchia ranina by Alméras and Fauré (2000) and Paredes et al. (2013).
