Taxonomy
Centronella was named by Billings (1859) [Sepkoski's age data: D Sieg D Give-u Sepkoski's reference number: 25]. Its type is Rhynchonella glansfagea. It is the type genus of Centronellidae, Centronellinae.

It was assigned to Terebratulida by Sepkoski (2002); and to Centronellinae by Williams et al. (2006).
