Taxonomy
Chrysocyon nearcticus was named by Tedford et al. (2009). Its type specimen is UA 12610, a mandible, and it is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is Duncan, which is in a Blancan lacustrine marl/claystone in the Gila Conglomerate Formation of Arizona.
