Taxonomy
Passaloteuthis auricipitis was named by Lang (1928). Its type specimen is BMNH C.28949 and is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is Bed 120d, extreme top, Crumbly Bed, Golden Cap, which is in an Ibex offshore marl in the Belemnite Marls Formation of the United Kingdom.
