Taxonomy
Parallelodon trapezium was named by Cox (1928). Its type specimen is BMNH L.48644, a valve (left valve), and it is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is Bed 120d, Crumbly Bed, Golden Cap, which is in an Ibex offshore marl in the Belemnite Marls Formation of the United Kingdom.
