Taxonomy
Pteria carixensis was named by Cox (1928). Its type specimen is BMNH L.48635, a valve (left valve), and it is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is Bed 111, Lower Pale Band, Charmouth, which is in a Jamesoni offshore marl in the Belemnite Marls Formation of the United Kingdom.
