Taxonomy
Rhynchonella capitulata was named by Tate (1876). Its type specimen is GSM 28584 and is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is Ironstone mines of Cleveland, which is in a Spinatum carbonate limestone in the United Kingdom.
It was recombined as Homoeorhynchia capitulata by Ager (1956) and Ager (1967).
