Taxonomy
Furcirhynchia furcata was named by Buckman (1917). Its type specimen is GSM 31871, a shell, and it is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is Thorncombe Beacon, near Eype (Buckman Eype Nodule bed coll.), which is in a Margaritatus marine sandstone in the Thorncombe Formation of the United Kingdom. It is the type species of Furcirhynchia.
