Taxonomy
Rhynchonella cotteswoldiae was named by Upton (1899). It is the type species of Lineirhynchia.

It was recombined as Lineirhynchia cotteswoldiae by Buckman (1917); it was recombined as Furcirhynchia cotteswoldiae by Ager (1958) and Ager (1967).
