Myctophum dofleini was named by Zugmayer (1911). It is extant.

It was recombined as Lobianchia dofleini by Steurbaut (1979), Nolf and Steurbaut (1983), Girone et al. (2006), Schwarzhans and Aguilera (2013), Schwarzhans and Ohe (2019) and Schwarzhans (2019).
