Taxonomy
Dictyothyris was named by Douville (1880) [Sepkoski's age data: J Bath-u J Kimm Sepkoski's reference number: 882,1066]. Its type is Terebratula coarctatus. It is the type genus of Dictyothyrididae.

It was assigned to Terebratulida by Sepkoski (2002); and to Dictyothyrididae by Williams et al. (2006).
