Taxonomy
Dienope was named by Cooper (1983) [Sepkoski's age data: J Call Sepkoski's reference number: 882,1066]. Its type is Terebratula trigeri. It is the type genus of Dienopidae.

It was assigned to Terebratulida by Sepkoski (2002); and to Dienopidae by Williams et al. (2006).
