Protoplatytes neglectus
Taxonomy
Pinacoceras neglectum was named by von Mojsisovics (1873). Its type specimen is GBA 1873/005/0089, a shell, and it is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is Zlambach (Grossen Zlambachgraben), which is in a Rhaetian carbonate limestone in the Zlambach Formation of Austria. It is the type species of Protoplatytes, Platytes.
It was recombined as Platytes neglectus by von Mojsisovics (1902); it was recombined as Protoplatytes neglectus by Spath (1951) and Tatzreiter and Zorn (2013).
