Ammonites planorboides was named by Guembel (1861). It is the type species of Eopsiloceras.
It was recombined as Monophyllites (Mojsvarites) planorboides by Pompeckj (1895); it was recombined as Eopsiloceras planorboides by Spath (1934), Wiedmann (1970), Rakús (1993) and Guex (1995).
