Joannites cymbiformis
Taxonomy
Nautilus cymbiformis was named by Wulfen (1793). It is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is St. Oswald adit, Bad Bleiberg, which is in a Julian lagoonal/restricted shallow subtidal packstone in the Wetterstein Formation of Austria.
It was recombined as Arcestes cymbiformis by von Mojsisovics (1875); it was recombined as Joannites cymbiformis by von Mojsisovics (1882), von Wöhrmann (1889), von Mojsisovics (1896), von Mojsisovics (1902) and Spath (1951).
