Taxonomy
Pleuronautilus gaudryi was named by von Mojsisovics (1902). Its type specimen is GBA 1902/003/0033, a shell, and it is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is Röthelstein, upper layer with Trachyceras austriacum, which is in a Julian carbonate limestone in the Halstatt Formation of Austria.
