Taxonomy
Costirhynchia costigera was named by Buckman (1917). It is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is Crickley Hill, Pea Grit (BGS), which is in an Aalenian carbonate grainstone/packstone in the Birdlip Limestone Formation of the United Kingdom. It is the type species of Costirhynchia.
