Corax curvatus was named by Williston (1900). It is extant.

It was recombined as Squalicorax curvatus by Siverson (1996), Cappetta and Case (1999), Shimada et al. (2006), Shimada and Martin (2008), Underwood and Cumbaa (2010) and Nagrodski et al. (2012).
