Taxonomy
Euscalpellum carolinensis was named by Zullo and Baum (1981). Its type specimen is USNM 304051, an other, and it is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is Santee Portland Cement Co. [Cross Limestone Mbr, Santee Limestone], which is in a Bartonian offshore shelf wackestone/grainstone in the Santee Limestone Formation of South Carolina.
