Lyperopherus vermiculosus was named by Ménétriés (1851). It is extant.

It was recombined as Pterostichus (Lyperopherus) vermiculosus by Hopkins et al. (1971); it was recombined as Pterostichus vermiculosus by Böcher (1995); it was recombined as Pterostichus (Lenapterus) vermiculosus by Bousquet (2012).
