Kraussina was named by Davidson (1859) [Sepkoski's age data: T Mi-u R]. It is extant. It is the type genus of Kraussinidae.

It was assigned to Brachiopoda by Kensley (1972); to Terebratulida by Sepkoski (2002); and to Kraussinidae by Williams et al. (2006).
