Taxonomy
Lobothyris was named by Buckman (1917) [Sepkoski's age data: J Sine J Bajo Sepkoski's reference number: 538,872]. It is the type genus of Lobothyridinae, Lobothyrididae.
It was assigned to Terebratulidae by Bychkov et al. (1976); to Terebratulida by Sepkoski (2002); and to Lobothyridinae by Williams et al. (2006).
