Neomachilellus (Praeneomachilellus) dominicanus was named by Sturm and Poinar (1997). It is an inclusion in amber. Its type locality is Dominican amber (H. Sturm coll), which is in a Burdigalian/Langhian terrestrial amber in the Dominican Republic. It is the type species of Neomachilellus (Praeneomachilellus).
