Orthothetes deformis was named by Hall (1857). It is a 3D body fossil.

It was recombined as Streptorhynchus deformis by Hall (1863); it was recombined as Schuchertella deformis by Williams and Breger (1916); it was recombined as Floweria deformis by Stigall Rode (2005).
