Taxonomy
Itaphlebia exquisita was named by Liu et al. (2010). Its type specimen is CNU-MEC-NN2009145, an exoskeleton, and it is a compression fossil. Its type locality is Daohugou (CNU 2009 collection), which is in a Callovian/Oxfordian lacustrine - large shale in the Daohugou Formation of China.
