Megerlia was named by King (1850) [Sepkoski's age data: T Mi-m R Sepkoski's reference number: 1,2]. It is extant. It is the type genus of Megerliinae.
It was assigned to Terebratulida by Sepkoski (2002); to Kraussinidae by Bitner and Martinell (2001) and Williams et al. (2006); and to Megerliinae by Bitner and Müller (2017).
