Taxonomy
Cephenothrips propelaticeps was named by Schliephake (2005). Its type specimen is Hoffeins 1477/4, an exoskeleton, and it is an inclusion in amber. Its type locality is Bitterfeld amber (Hoffeins collection), which is in a Priabonian terrestrial amber in Germany.
