Taxonomy
Nucleata was named by Quenstedt (1868) [Sepkoski's age data: J Kimm K Albi-u Sepkoski's reference number: 1,538,776]. It is not extant. It is the type genus of Nucleatidae.

It was assigned to Brachiopoda by Vörös (1995); to Terebratulida by Sepkoski (2002); and to Nucleatidae by Williams et al. (2006) and Bujtor and Albrecht (2022).
