Taxonomy
Aeshna shanwangensis was named by Li et al. (2011). Its type specimen is CNU-ODO-SS2011011, an exoskeleton, and it is a compression fossil. Its type locality is Shanwang, Linqu County (CNU collection), which is in a Burdigalian lacustrine - large mudstone in the Shanwang Formation of China.
