Locustopsis reticulata was named by Handlirsch (1939). It is an impression. Its type locality is Dobbertin, Mecklenburg (Greifswald collection), which is in a Toarcian offshore claystone in Germany.
It was recombined as Plesioschwinzia reticulata by Zessin (1988).
