Taxonomy
Pleciomyia pachygaster was named by Handlirsch (1939). Its type specimen is BMNH I.244, an exoskeleton, and it is an impression. Its type locality is Durlston Bay, Middle Purbeck, Swanage (BMNH collection), which is in a Berriasian lagoonal/restricted shallow subtidal limestone in the Durlston Formation of the United Kingdom. It is the type species of Pleciomyia, Prohousea.
It was recombined as Prohousea pachygaster by Jarzembowski (1996).
