Taxonomy
Archohelia vernonensis was named by Vaughan (1941). It is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is East bank of Toro Bayou, La., which is in a Lutetian marine wackestone in the St. Maurice Formation of Louisiana.

It was recombined as Petrophyllia vernonensis by Kiessling (2008).
