Taxonomy
Leptophyllia separata was named by Eliasova (2004). Its type locality is Netreba, Czechia, which is in a Cenomanian carbonate limestone in the Korycany Formation of the Czech Republic.

It was recombined as Acrosmilia separata by Kiessling (2014).
