Taxonomy
Plicatoria was named by Cooper (1983) [Sepkoski's age data: T Eo-m Sepkoski's reference number: 882]. Its type is Terebratula wilmingtonensis. It is the type genus of Plicatoriinae.

It was assigned to Terebratulida by Sepkoski (2002); and to Plicatoriinae by Williams et al. (2006).
