Taxonomy
Isastrea parva was named by Smith (1927).

It was recombined as Cyathocoenia parva by Smith (1927) and Montanaro-Gallitelli et al. (1979); it was recombined as Elysastraea parva by Stanley (1979); it was synonymized subjectively with Crassistella juvavica by Caruthers and Stanley (2008); it was recombined as Ceriostella parva by Roniewicz and Stanley (2013).
