Taxonomy
Datanglong guangxiensis was named by Mo et al. (2014). Its type specimen is GMG 00001, a partial skeleton, and it is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is Nazao village, Datang, which is in an Aptian terrestrial marl/sandstone in the Xinlong Formation of China.

Mo et al. 2014Large-bodied Carcharodontosauria (body length estimated about 8–9 m) with the following unique association of features: posteriormost dorsal vertebra with teardrop-shaped pneumatic foramen confined by enlarged pcdl, acpl and centrum; posteriormost dorsal with well developed, horizontal prpl; posteriormost dorsal with parapophysis projecting more laterally than the diapophysis; brevis fossa shallow with short, ridge-like medial blade; iliac pubic peduncle with posteroventrally expanded margin.
