Taxonomy
Rissoa obtusa was named by Brown (1841). It is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is Newtown, River Irk, Bed 8, which is in a Wuchiapingian shallow subtidal packstone in the United Kingdom.

It was recombined as Turbo obtusus by Geinitz (1861).
