Psilothyris was named by Cooper (1955) [Sepkoski's age data: K Berr-u K Ceno Sepkoski's reference number: 1,1094]. It is not extant. Its type is Psilothyris occidentalis.
It was assigned to Terebratulida by Sepkoski (2002); and to Terebrataliopsinae by Williams et al. (2006).
