Taxonomy
Orthis wangenheimi was named by de Verneuil (1845). It is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is Grebeni, Orenburg, which is in a Roadian shallow subtidal limestone in the Russian Federation.
It was recombined as Strophalosia wangenheimi by Geinitz (1861); it was recombined as Aulosteges wangenheimi by Reed (1944) and Muir-Wood and Cooper (1960).
