Rugia was named by Steinich (1963) [Sepkoski's age data: K Coni T Dani-l Sepkoski's reference number: 765,889]. It is not extant.

It was assigned to Terebratulida by Sepkoski (2002); and to Chlidonophorinae by Cooper (1973) and Williams et al. (2006).
