Taxonomy
Rhynchotrema instabilis was named by Klenina (1984). Its type specimen is IGNA 411/193, a valve (conjoined valves), and it is a 3D body fossil.

It was recombined as Rongatrypa instabilis by Popov and Cocks (2014).
