Taxonomy
Tegulithyris was named by Buckman (1917) [Sepkoski's age data: J Call-l Sepkoski's reference number: 1,1066]. It is the type genus of Tegulithyrididae.

It was assigned to Terebratulida by Sepkoski (2002); and to Tegulithyrididae by Williams et al. (2006).
