Taxonomy
Terebratella was named by d'Orbigny (1847) [Sepkoski's age data: K Vala-l R Sepkoski's reference number: 1]. It is extant. It is the type genus of Terebratellidae, Terebratellinae.

It was assigned to Terebratellidae by Frassinetti and Covacevich (1999) and Camacho et al. (2000); to Terebratulida by Sepkoski (2002); and to Terebratellinae by Chiesa et al. (1995) and Williams et al. (2006).
