Taxonomy
Velata hartzi was named by Rosenkrantz (1957). It is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is Raeve Kloft, Bed I, which is in a Pliensbachian marine sandstone/shale in the Cape Stewart Beds Formation of Greenland.
It was considered a nomen nudum by Rosenkrantz (1934); it was recombined as Eopecten hartzi by Aberhan (1998).
