Taxonomy
Bronteus romanovskii was named by Weber (1948). It is the type species of Eokosovopeltis.

It was recombined as Eokosovopeltis romanovskii by Pribyl and Vanek (1971) and Jell and Adrain (2002); it was misspelled as Eokosovopeltis romanovskyi by Popov et al. (2002); it was recombined as Eocosovopeltis romanovskyi by Nikitin et al. (2003).
