Macroptera greberi was named by Laurentiaux (1949). It is an impression. Its type locality is Cuvinot pit, 360 m, Valenciennes, which is in a Westphalian B terrestrial shale in France. It is the type species of Macroptera.
It was recombined as Lusiella greberi by Carpenter (1992).
