Taxonomy
Soomylacris obesa was named by Bolton (1939). Its type specimen is BMNH In. 31388, a tegmen, and it is an impression. Its type locality is Bryncoch colliery, near Neath, which is in a Westphalian D delta plain shale in the United Kingdom.
