Birmanites akchiensis

Taxonomy
Birmanites akchiensis was named by Ghobadi Pour et al. (2011). Its type specimen is NMW 2005.32G.181 (external mould of cranidium) and is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is 203b. Karugach Section. East side of Ayaguz River, about 7 km north of Akchii, which is in a Katian carbonate sandstone/siltstone in the Karagach Formation of Kazakhstan.

Ghobadi Pour et al. 2011Cranidium of about equal length and width, with broadly and evenly rounded anterior margin; preglabellar field smooth, with very weakly expressed longitudinal median ridge; pygidium about 70% as long as wide, with axis occupying 20% of pygidial width and 75% of maximum pygidial length, and terminating with a short postaxial ridge; axial furrows are shallow and wide, almost straight; 12 well-defined axial rings; pleural field flattened, with six pairs of pleural ribs which do not reach border.
