Wittenburgella was named by Dagys (1959) [Sepkoski's age data: Tr Nori Sepkoski's reference number: 1]. It is not extant.

It was assigned to Terebratulida by Sepkoski (2002); and to Juvavellidae by Williams et al. (2006).
