"The form of cellules in the peculiar group of which G. ramosus may be considered the type.... should be separated from Graptolithus proper for the same reason, forming a sub-generic group, for which I suggest the name of Dicranograptus."
Taxonomy
Climacograptus (Dicranograptus) was named by Hall (1865) [Sepkoski's age data: O Llde-u O Cara-u Sepkoski's reference number: 722]. It is not extant. Its type is Graptolithus ramosus. It was considered monophyletic by Mitchell et al. (2007).
